The Laboratory was founded in 1978 to study the structural mechanisms of the formation properties of composites with a solid granular filler and elastomeric matrix. Till 1993 the laboratory headed by Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Dr., Prof. Valery V. Moshev. Since 1993, the laboratory headed by Dr. Alexander L. Svistkov.
